Cardi B has added another milestone to her record-breaking career. Her blockbuster collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, “WAP,” has officially been certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), recognizing more than 10 million units sold and streamed in the United States.
The achievement makes Cardi B the female rapper with the most Diamond-certified songs in RIAA history, extending her record to four. For Megan Thee Stallion, the certification marks the first Diamond single of her career.
Released on August 7, 2020, “WAP” quickly became one of the defining songs of the decade. The sexually explicit anthem debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making history as the first female rap collaboration to open atop the chart. It also delivered the largest opening streaming week ever recorded for a song in the United States at the time and spent four nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1.
The song’s success extended far beyond the United States. “WAP” became the first No. 1 song on Billboard’s newly launched Global 200 chart, remaining atop the worldwide ranking for three weeks while also reaching No. 1 in multiple international markets. Its Colin Tilley-directed music video, featuring appearances from Kylie Jenner, Normani, Rosalía, Latto, Sukihana and Rubi Rose, shattered YouTube records upon release and became one of the platform’s most-discussed music videos of 2020.
Although originally intended to launch Cardi B’s long-awaited second studio album, the song was ultimately included as the closing track on her 2025 album Am I the Drama?
