Kanye West (aka Ye) officially launched his long-awaited European return on May 30 with a blockbuster performance at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium, opening the night with “King” in front of what he says was the largest ticketed stadium crowd in live music history. During the show, the rapper told fans that the concert had sold 118,000 tickets, claiming it broke the all-time attendance record for a ticketed stadium performance.
“I just want to tell y’all, we just broke the record of 118,000, largest stadium performance of all time,” Ye told the crowd from the center of the venue.
The show unfolded on the same rotating Earth-inspired stage design used during his SoFi Stadium performances earlier this year. Positioned at the center of the floor, the circular structure featured a dome-like installation projecting a highly detailed spinning globe, creating an immersive visual centerpiece for one of the most ambitious productions of his recent career.
Held in Başakşehir, the Istanbul stop marked Ye’s first major European stadium performance since 2015.
The show carried added significance after a turbulent run of canceled or blocked European bookings. Planned appearances across the UK, France, Switzerland, Poland, and Italy reportedly collapsed amid ongoing controversy surrounding Ye’s past public statements, making Istanbul a pivotal test of his international live draw.
Musically, the set balanced classic material with tracks from BULLY, released March 28. The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 despite delayed arrival on major streaming platforms affecting its tracking window, while still generating 33.2 million first-day Spotify streams.
