Kanye West’s long-awaited return to the Netherlands is finally underway. On June 6, Ye took the stage at GelreDome in Arnhem for the first of two sold-out stadium shows, marking his first Dutch performance since 2013 and one of his most significant European appearances in more than a decade.
The concert drew enormous attention weeks before doors opened. Demand reportedly overwhelmed ticketing platforms, with more than 450,000 fans entering online queues for a venue capable of hosting roughly 40,000 attendees. By showtime, GelreDome was packed as Ye launched the performance with “King,” the same opening song used during his recent record-breaking concert at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium.
Musically, the Arnhem set largely mirrored the structure of the Istanbul show on May 30. Fans were treated to a career-spanning selection that balanced classics with material from BULLY, Ye’s latest album released on March 28. While songs such as “Heartless,” “Carnival,” and “Ghost Town” remained central pillars of the show, one notable addition generated a particularly strong reaction from the crowd: “American Boy,” the global hit originally recorded with Estelle and one of the most recognizable records of his career.
The performance unfolded on Ye’s now-familiar Earth-inspired stage design, featuring a massive rotating globe installation positioned at the center of the stadium floor. Elaborate visual effects, pyrotechnics, and immersive projections transformed the venue into a cinematic spectacle, continuing the ambitious production style first introduced during his SoFi Stadium performances earlier this year.
The Arnhem dates carry significance beyond music. They represent Ye’s first European stadium run since 2015 and arrive after several planned appearances across the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Poland, and Italy reportedly failed to materialize amid ongoing controversy surrounding the artist.
The European run now continues with a second GelreDome show on June 8, which also coincides with Ye’s 49th birthday.
