Peter Gene Hernandez, famously known as Bruno Mars, celebrates his 38th birthday today. Bruno’s journey in the music industry began over two decades ago when he took a bold step by moving to Los Angeles at the age of 17. His father’s lineage includes Puerto Rican and Jewish roots, while his mother hailed from Filipino and Spanish ancestry. It was his father who bestowed upon him the first part of his stage name, “Bruno.” This nickname was given when Peter was just two years old, thanks to his striking resemblance to the professional wrestler, Bruno Sammartino.
Music has always always flowed through his veins. His mother was a talented singer and dancer, while his father performed songs by the iconic Little Richard. At the age of four, Mars embarked on a musical journey, performing five days a week alongside his family’s band, named “The Love Notes.” In Hawaii, he became renowned for his uncanny impersonation of the legendary Elvis Presley.
