Hinterland Music Festival 2026 officially kicks off today, July 30, bringing four days of indie, folk, alternative, and pop music to the Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater in St. Charles, Iowa.
Running through August 2, Hinterland has built a reputation as one of the Midwest’s most beloved boutique festivals. Unlike sprawling multi-stage events, the festival’s single-stage format allows attendees to watch every artist without worrying about overlapping performances, creating a more intimate experience against the rolling hills just outside Des Moines.
Thursday’s lineup blends rising stars with established favorites, led by KATSEYE, who close out the opening night following an anticipated performance from beabadoobee. The evening also features Ashnikko, Audrey Nuna, Jane Remover, and more.
The excitement continues well beyond Thursday. Friday welcomes Lorde as the night’s headliner alongside MUNA, Snow Strippers, Paris Paloma, and Sofia Isella. Saturday belongs to Mumford & Sons, Jessie Murph, Santigold, CMAT, The Format, and The Brook & The Bluff, while Sunday’s finale is headlined by Kali Uchis with additional performances from Young Miko, Wet Leg, Geese, Suki Waterhouse, and Samia.
