BLACKPINK’s “Kill This Love” has just surpassed 2 billion views on YouTube, making them the first K-Pop act to have two music videos achieving this feat. Notably, LISA and her fellow BLACKPINK member JENNIE are the only two female solo K-Pop artists to have a music video surpass 1 billion views. Furthermore, LISA is only the third South Korean soloist to accomplish this feat. In recent years, K-Pop has consistently grown in the music industry, establishing itself as a prominent genre. With their catchy songs and unique dance skills, the stars of this music genre have amassed millions of streams and views on various platforms, breaking several records. For instance, BTS‘ “Butter” holds the records for the fastest music video to reach 100 million and 200 million views on YouTube.
Songs like BTS’ “Blood Sweat & Tears” (981M) and “Butter” (983M) are slowly moving toward the billion mark. Overall, as of August 31st, only sixteen music videos by K-Pop artists have gathered more than 1 billion views.
