Tomorrow is now, and it couldn’t be brighter. The Weeknd’s sixth studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, is a brilliant masterpiece. Released through XO and Republic Records, the LP serves as the final installment of a trilogy that includes two other gems: After Hours (2020) and Dawn FM (2022). Each album represents a different phase of the night and morning, from the late-night hours (After Hours) to the moments after sunrise (Hurry Up Tomorrow). The new album not only marks the conclusion of this trilogy but also signals the singer’s desire to embrace the next chapter of his career—leaving The Weeknd behind and continuing under his real name, Abel Tesfaye. “I just want to know what comes after. I want to know what tomorrow looks like,” he admitted. From this perspective, Hurry Up Tomorrow delves into themes of redemption, the passage of time, and self-discovery, all while embracing the excitement of new beginnings.
Sonically, The Weeknd explores a rich musical landscape, blending multiple genres, including his signature R&B, dance-pop, and synth-pop. The album’s production is both unique and innovative, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a thriller or sci-fi film. He also ventures into new territory, incorporating a techno-cumbia fusion sound on “São Paulo.”
The album features 22 tracks, including the previously released singles “Timeless” and “São Paulo.” Notably, “Dancing in the Flames,” which was originally released as the lead single in September, does not appear on the final tracklist. While the official credits have yet to be confirmed, Hurry Up Tomorrow boasts an impressive lineup of collaborations, featuring Lana Del Rey, Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, Anitta, and Future.
