Ariana Grande has shared a brand-new teaser for the music video of “petal,” the title track from her upcoming eighth studio album, giving fans a final look at the visual arriving alongside the record on Friday, July 31. Directed by Christian Breslauer and filmed in the cinematic VistaVision format, the 26-second clip expands the mysterious world Grande has been teasing throughout the album rollout.

The black-and-white preview opens inside what resembles a vintage Hollywood studio office, complete with classic film equipment and old-fashioned production spaces. The clip concludes with the title “PETAL” and confirms that both the music video and album will premiere on July 31, 2026.

Ariana Grande also reveals the identity of her on-screen character. Introducing herself, she says, “I’m Pepper. I’m here for the audition today.” The receptionist immediately replies, “You and everyone else, honey. Take an application, pick a number, get online,” setting the tone for what appears to be a satirical look at the entertainment industry’s competitive culture.

The new teaser builds upon earlier previews first shown during Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine Tour before being released online. Previous footage centered on a casting office, where a poster called for “new faces who can follow direction and have a good personality,” prompting widespread fan discussion that the visual critiques Hollywood’s constant search for younger, more marketable talent. The introduction of Pepper now provides additional context, suggesting the video may follow a fictional aspiring performer navigating that environment.

The release also completes a unique promotional tradition that Grande has maintained throughout the petal era. Since the spring, the singer has consistently unveiled new content on the eighth, 18th, and 28th of each month, making July 28 the final installment before the full album arrives.

Musically, petal represents Ariana Grande’s first full-length studio album since her recent Wicked-related projects. Executive produced alongside longtime collaborator Ilya Salmanzadeh, the 12-track project explores healing, personal growth, and resilience through floral imagery. Grande previously described the album as reflecting the experience of “growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging,” a concept that continues to shape every visual released so far.

Commercial momentum is already firmly in place. Lead single “hate that i made you love me” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Grande’s 10th career chart-topper, while petal has surpassed 3 million pre-saves on Spotify ahead of its release.
