Brent Faiyaz has officially locked in a new release date for his long-awaited third studio album, Icon. The project is now set to arrive next Friday, February 13, marking a decisive turn in a rollout that has been anything but conventional.

The R&B artist confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing a minimalist post that spelled out Icon in multiple languages. Shortly after, he followed up with a one-minute teaser simply captioned “music.” Alongside the teaser, Faiyaz revealed the album’s official 10-song tracklist.

The announcement arrives months after a dramatic reset. In October, Faiyaz stunned fans with the release of “Have To,” his first single in nearly two years, and an unexpected revelation: Icon had been fully recorded and scheduled for release on September 19, 2025, before being abruptly shelved hours before launch. A title card in the self-directed “Have To” video detailed the decision, explaining that the album, its rollout, and even an additional lead single were scrapped at the last moment.

That pivot marked a significant moment in Faiyaz’s career. Icon was originally positioned as the follow-up to Wasteland (2022) and Larger Than Life (2023), with early singles like “Tony Soprano” and “Peter Pan” teasing a sleek, confident continuation of his sound. Its original release date would have placed it in direct competition with Cardi B’s Am I the Drama?, setting up one of the year’s most anticipated chart battles.

Instead, Faiyaz chose restraint over momentum. “Have To” introduced a more introspective tone, emphasizing independence, control, and personal resolve.
