Dove Cameron is finally signaling that “Final Girl” is on the way. The unreleased song, which she first performed live while opening select dates of Dua Lipa’s 2025 Radical Optimism Tour, is teased at the end of the official video for her new single “When In Rome.”
The brief preview arrives as Cameron enters a new phase of her long-awaited debut album campaign. Written by Cameron and produced by Ryan Daly, “Final Girl” turns a familiar horror-movie trope into a metaphor for survival, transformation and reclaiming control after a difficult chapter.

Dove Cameron first introduced the song to audiences last summer during her opening dates for Dua Lipa in the U.K. and Ireland. Clips from those performances quickly circulated online, with fans sharing snippets of the lyrics and speculating that the track could become one of the defining tracks of her eventual debut album.
After Alchemical: Volume 1 in 2023 and a string of standalone releases in 2025, including “Too Much,” “French Girls,” “Romeo,” “Whatever You Like” and “Hello My Old Lover,” she has spent years trying to get a complete album across the finish line.
Dove Cameron revealed in February, while promoting Prime Video’s 56 Days, that she had been developing an album since 2018, shortly after signing with Columbia Records. The project was completed multiple times but repeatedly stalled before receiving approval from the label. “It was just like, not now, not now, not now,” she recalled, describing a process that eventually forced her to rewrite the record.
The campaign has now gained momentum with “When In Rome,” a bright, playful love song inspired by Cameron’s relationship with Måneskin frontman Damiano David. Its video was filmed in Capena, a small town outside Rome, with David also appearing on set. The couple became engaged in January 2026 and are expected to marry later this year in Tuscany.
