KATSEYE are already setting expectations sky-high for their next release cycle. During a new episode of Instagram’s Close Friends Only hosted by Larray on Thursday, May 7, the six-member group opened up about their upcoming EP WILD, teasing a project they describe as more ambitious and sonically unpredictable than anything they’ve released so far.

When Larray asked member Megan for hints about the group’s next music era, she did not hold back. “This era is going to be super crazy… crazier than ‘Gnarly’ and ‘Beautiful Chaos’,” Megan said. “Every single song we’re in love with.” She later doubled down on that excitement, adding, “Really excited for this one because every single song we’re, like, in love with.”

Daniela expanded on the creative direction by hinting at broader experimentation across the tracklist. “I think there’s also, like, different sounds with every single song,” she explained, suggesting WILD may avoid sticking to a single sonic formula.

Those comments arrive as anticipation around the August 14 EP continues accelerating online. KATSEYE officially announced WILD last month alongside the launch of pre-saves across streaming platforms, marking the group’s first major project since 2025’s Beautiful Chaos.

Momentum behind the rollout has been building steadily since April. On April 9, the group previewed the era with “Pinky Up,” a hyperactive pop single that pulled 7.261 million YouTube views within its first 24 hours. The track also debuted at No. 83 on Spotify’s Daily Global chart before quickly surging into the platform’s top 20 days later.

That rise coincided with KATSEYE’s breakout Coachella performance on April 10 at the Sahara Stage. Their 45-minute set blended polished choreography with rapid-fire transitions between fan favorites like “Debut,” “Internet Girl,” “Gabriela,” and “Gnarly.” Midway through the performance, the group surprised audiences by bringing out EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami for a live rendition of “Golden,” the viral track tied to the animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters.

The Close Friends Only episode also offered a more personal glimpse into the members themselves. Sophia reflected emotionally on meeting Ariana Grande for the first time, admitting, “I actually started crying… she was just too nice and she didn’t have to be.” She continued, “You know that whole thing, ‘don’t meet your idols,’ I did meet my idol and she made me feel so seen and so proud to be a fan.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Lara revealed her dream of working with Pharrell. “I want Pharrell to produce a KATSEYE song so badly, it would make my life,” she said. Daniela shared that heartbreak and personal experiences often shape the group’s songwriting process: “We’ll have a little encounter with someone, we’ll write about it.”
