Olivia Rodrigo has added another major milestone to her rapidly growing career. Her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, debuts at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, becoming the biggest opening week of her career in the territory.
According to the Official Charts Company, the album launched with 103,000 units sold in its first week, surpassing the debut performances of both Sour and Guts. The achievement gives Rodrigo her third consecutive UK No. 1 album, following Sour in 2021 and Guts in 2023.
The record’s opening frame also places Rodrigo in rare company. At 23, she becomes the youngest international artist to sell more than 100,000 albums in a debut week in the United Kingdom since Britney Spears achieved the feat in 2004 with Greatest Hits: My Prerogative.
The album’s dominance extended far beyond the albums chart. Three songs from You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love landed simultaneously inside the Top 5 of the UK Singles Chart. Third single “stupid song” enters at No. 2, while “the cure” climbs to No. 3 and “drop dead” reaches No. 5. It marks the first time Rodrigo has placed three songs in the UK Top 5 at the same time since her breakthrough year in 2021.
