Saturday Night Live returns tonight with a milestone broadcast. The long-running NBC institution airs its 1,000th episode on January 31, 2026. It is also the third consecutive new episode of the year, following recent installments hosted by Teyana Taylor, with Geese as musical guest, and an earlier January episode featuring A$AP Rocky.

The historic broadcast will be led by Alexander Skarsgård, who makes his SNL hosting debut at a particularly busy point in his career. The Swedish actor currently has two films arriving within days of each other. The Moment, released January 30, is a mockumentary in which Skarsgård plays Charli XCX’s tour director. He follows that with Pillion, premiering February 6.

Providing the night’s musical energy is Cardi B, returning to the SNL stage for the first time since 2018. Her original appearance coincided with the release of her debut album Invasion of Privacy, during an episode hosted by the late Chadwick Boseman. That night, Cardi B also featured prominently in the pre-taped sketch “Aidy B & Cardi B,” which leaned into her public persona. Eight years later, she returns just weeks before the beginning of her Little Miss Drama Tour in support of her sophomore album, Am I the Drama?

As tradition dictates, Saturday Night Live airs live on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET / 10:30 p.m. CT, with a simultaneous livestream available on Peacock. The full episode, including sketches and musical performances, will be available to stream shortly after broadcast. Select highlights will also be posted across SNL’s official digital channels.
