Olivia Rodrigo is brushing off online speculation surrounding her relationship with Taylor Swift. In a new interview with Popcast, the “drivers license” singer addressed the constant internet scrutiny around her personal life, making it clear she has no interest in letting fan theories dictate her headspace as anticipation builds for her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.

Asked directly about online chatter dissecting her reported connection to Swift, Rodrigo offered a measured response. “I don’t really read too far into it. I think it comes with the territory and it’s par for the course,” she said. “I think if I dove into every internet detective sleuth that, like, got things right or wrong about my life, or any of my relationships, I think I’d just go crazy. Like, there’s just not enough time in the day.”

The comments arrive as Rodrigo remains firmly in the spotlight. Over the past several weeks, the 23-year-old has found herself at the center of multiple online debates tied to both her artistic choices and public image.

Earlier this month, Rodrigo pushed back against backlash over the babydoll dress aesthetic she has embraced for the You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love campaign. During the same Popcast conversation, she addressed criticism that her styling leaned into infantilized imagery, rejecting that framing outright and calling it symptomatic of a broader culture that too often places responsibility on young women for how others perceive them.

Her response followed viral reactions to her May 8 appearance at Spotify’s Billions Club Live in Barcelona, where she performed in a floral puff-sleeve babydoll dress paired with black Doc Martens. The look quickly sparked social media discourse, with some critics describing it as “toddler-coded,” while others accused it of leaning into problematic visual tropes. Rodrigo firmly dismissed the accusations, arguing that sexualizing fully covered clothing says more about cultural conditioning than personal intent.

Even as those conversations continue online, the music itself is dominating. Rodrigo’s latest single, “The Cure,” debuted at No. 1 on Spotify’s Daily Global chart with 7.215 million streams on May 22, marking her second global chart-topper of 2026 following April’s “Drop Dead,” which opened with 10.7 million streams.
