Cardi B has confirmed that a new album is officially in the works, with the rapper planning to step away from her usual schedule after her birthday in October to focus on recording. The project is expected to become her third studio album and is currently targeted for release in 2027.
Speaking to REAL 92.3 on the iHeartRadio Music Festival red carpet, Cardi revealed that she already has two songs completed for the upcoming project, although she stressed that the album is still in its early stages. “I am doing a new album. And after November, after my birthday, I’m shifting myself away just to record,” she said.
Cardi admitted that she is “nowhere near” finished with the record but said she is happy with the material she has recorded so far. “I just got this confidence,” she added, making clear that she intends to give the next era her full attention. The rapper also confirmed that she is aiming to release the album in 2027.
The announcement arrives exactly one year after Cardi released her long-awaited sophomore album, Am I the Drama?, on September 19, 2025. The record marked her first studio album since 2018’s Invasion of Privacy and opened another major chapter in her career, eventually leading to an extensive arena tour in 2026.
Cardi had already hinted earlier this year that a third album was moving forward. During a livestream recorded while traveling to Sacramento, she teased fans with a direct promise: “Before the year ends? Another one. Album three coming up.” At the time, the rapper did not reveal a release date or detailed plans for the project.
Her plans for the next era also extend beyond the recording studio. During the Little Miss Drama Tour, Cardi explained that the 35-date arena run gave her a better understanding of large-scale production and revealed that she wanted to make her next tour even bigger. “On my next tour with my next album, I’m going to perform for five months,” she told fans, adding that she wants the production planned “to the T.”
The Little Miss Drama Tour launched February 11, 2026, in Palm Desert, California, and concluded April 18 in Atlanta. The trek sold approximately 453,000 tickets and grossed $70 million, giving Cardi a major live benchmark to build on for her next campaign.
Musically, Cardi has already returned to the spotlight in 2026. She released “Ah Ha” on July 31 through Atlantic Records as her first solo single of the year and her first solo release following Am I the Drama?. Produced by DJ SwanQo, the track reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.
