Halsey has just released her fifth studio album, The Great Impersonator, and it’s safe to say that it’s one of the best LPs of 2024 so far, as well as one of her finest works to date. This album continues to impress, track after track. It opens on a high note with “Only Living Girl in LA,” which we can already reveal as our top-ranked song from The Great Impersonator. With Halsey’s signature raw vocals and deeply honest, heartfelt lyrics, this 6-minute track stands as a true masterpiece within an incredible album.

The Great Impersonator is shaped by Halsey’s recent battles with lupus and leukemia, making it perhaps her most personal project yet. “I made this record in the space between life and death,” she shared when announcing the album. “And it feels like I’ve waited an eternity for you to have it. I’ll wait a bit longer. I’ve waited a decade, already.”

Four singles were released ahead of the LP to build anticipation: “Lucky,” “Lonely Is The Muse,” “Ego,” and “I Never Loved You.” Halsey’s promotional campaign for the album was equally creative. Over the past 18 days, the 30-year-old singer shared daily photoshoots where she embodied iconic figures from the past and present, while also teasing snippets of each track on the album. She began with Dolly Parton and concluded with Marilyn Monroe, with interpretations of artists like Kate Bush, Cher, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Britney Spears, and Aaliyah in between.

Now that The Great Impersonator is finally out, we can’t help but keep it on repeat. In the meantime, we’ve ranked all 18 tracks from Halsey’s new album.
