BLACKPINK have opened 2026 with another milestone. The quartet’s third Korean mini-album, DEADLINE, has recorded the biggest female album debut on Spotify this year, amassing 16.9 million global streams in its first day.
The project’s immediate impact was visible across platforms. On the Daily Global Spotify Chart, five tracks entered simultaneously: “GO” at No. 9 with 4.678 million streams, “Me and My” at No. 22 (3.13M), “Champion” at No. 23 (3.06M), “JUMP” at No. 29 (2.66M), and “Fxxxboy” at No. 37 (2.48M). The strongest performer, “GO,” quickly emerged as the fan favorite, setting the tone for the release cycle. The track also earned the biggest opening day for a female song this year.
On YouTube, “GO” debuted with 21.3 million views in its first 24 hours. Meanwhile, DEADLINE launched at No. 1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart.
Released on February 27, 2026 via YG Entertainment, the EP marks the group’s first full-unit project since 2022’s Born Pink. In South Korea, it surpassed 1.4 million copies on its first day according to Hanteo, setting a new benchmark for a girl group opening.
As streaming numbers climbed, online discussion shifted toward production details—specifically the bridge of “GO.” Fans have pointed to the track’s swelling orchestral textures and euphoric lift, drawing comparisons to Coldplay’s 2008 anthem “Viva La Vida.” The resemblance has fueled speculation about a possible sample or interpolation.
There is a factual basis for the conversation. Chris Martin is officially credited as a co-writer and composer on “GO,” alongside BLACKPINK members and producer Cirkut. However, as of publication, no formal sample credit for “Viva La Vida” appears in publicly available metadata.
