Chappell Roan is officially back in music video mode. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter was recently spotted in New York City, shooting a brand-new music video for an unreleased track titled “The Subway.” Multiple fans captured behind-the-scenes footage on July 7, with clips surfacing across X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok. In one standout shot, Chappell is seen wearing a long, bright red wig that dramatically flows over a balcony—suggesting that her signature theatrical visuals will once again play a major role in this next era. While Chappell Roan has not officially announced the song, fan-sourced video confirms that the production was a full-scale shoot.

“The Subway” was first teased by Chappell in June 2024, when she changed her Instagram profile picture to the Subway logo. She later debuted the song at Governors Ball 2024 and described it as “a fun song to sing” during her set at Bonnaroo 2024. No release date has been confirmed, but the music video shoot suggests that “The Subway” could be her next single—or at least part of a rollout leading to her highly anticipated sophomore album.

This latest visual project follows Chappell’s recent momentum. After a breakout 2024 with “Good Luck, Babe!” and a career-defining win for Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammy Awards, she returned in March with her first new song in nearly a year, “The Giver.” That country-pop crossover became a global hit, reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 in the UK.

In a recent Apple Music interview, the singer confirmed that while her second album isn’t close to finished, she has plenty of new songs ready and more live shows in the works. “Keep a lookout,” she told fans. “Girl, we’ve got songs upon songs ready to go!
